Partner Case Study

Fluke Networks: General Parts Uses Embedded IOS Technologies to Successfully Manage Inventory at Retail Locations
Wednesday, 12:00 p.m.
Room 315A
Session ID: (ITIPCS-1019)
(Add to your schedule by logging into your account in MyScheduler and search by the Session ID #)

General Parts (GPI) based in Raleigh, NC, uses a critical ERP application that supports their retail point-of-sales environment. These applications are key to their success as they enable the rapid and accurate lookup as well as inventory status of product for their customers. GPI's business model uses large distribution centers to stock retail locations and in many cases inventory is distributed to retail locations on demand, requiring that the inventory management application be consistently available as well as highly responsive.

GPI faces two challenges in ensuring that this application is available and responsive as well as insuring that the infrastructure is capable of supporting it.

Their Solution:
General Parts used two embedded IOS technologies to provide a solution to these challenges, enabling NetFlow exports and IP SLA active performance measurements. With these IOS data sources and additional solutions from Fluke Networks that can utilize them, they can measure and ensure the integrity and capacity of their WAN and data center infrastructure.

This case study will cover:

  • Practical examples of how IOS technologies can be used for both monitoring and actively analyzing WAN performance
  • How these technologies are of specific value in delivering acceptable performance to end users in retail point of sale environments
  • Where complementary solutions and technologies can be used in concert with IOS technologies to provide additional analysis and complete WAN visibility
